Citrus are large shrubs or small trees, with compound, simple or pinnately compound leaves with oil glands which give off a strong aroma. Citrus is originally from the tropics and is grown in warmer regions of the U.S. Flowers are greenish-yellow to white in color. Citrus flowers in Florida from January to April and in California from March to May. They reach 20-25 feet in height. In herbal medicine, an infusion of dried citrus flowers is used as a mild nervous stimulant.
